The events of December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Ct still haunt me. I think it’s the added factor of being a teacher and having children in 1st and 3rd grades. I’m planning to ride up to say a prayer at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. It will be brief. From what I’m hearing I may not even be able to get right up to the school. Not more then a minute but I’m hoping it may put my mind at ease a bit. You are more then welcome to join me either for the ride up, lunch, or some local twisties. The ride up to Newtown will contain highways, parkways, expressways, as well as, grated and non-grated bridges. I’m sure there may even be a part with an interstate or two. From Plainview, LIE, CIP, Throgs Neck Bridge, Hutch, Merritt, Henry Mucci Hwy/RT25, then local from there. Needless to say you must have a scooter that can cruise at 65-70 mph. We’ll stop at a gas station once on the way up which will give a chance for others to join if necessary. The station is on the NY/CT boarder off the Merritt. From there we’ll head to the Blue Colony Diner in Newtown for lunch. Then we’ll stop at the school for a quick silent prayer before cruising some local twisties.

The initial meet up will be at 9 am with the ride beginning at 10. We’ll meet at the Coliseum Deli, 1660 Old Country Rd, Plainview. Note this is a new meet up spot.

The first stop will be at the Mobil Gas Station just over the CT boarder on the Merritt Parkway (15). I think its Greenwich around exit 30. I’m guessing we’ll arrive there at 11:30. If you’d like to meet us there let me know so we wait. If not it’s gas and go.

Lunch at the Blue Colony Diner, 66 Church Hill Rd, Newtown. I would guess we’d be arriving at the diner around 12:30-1:00. After lunch we’ll proceed to the school before heading out onto some local roads.

This, obviously, will be an all day ride and only if weather is permitting. Plans may change especially if some local scooterist can help out once we’re up there.

I'm understanding the gas station on the NY/CT boarder is under construction. Details will follow on another meeting spot along the way.
