Post subject:  Saturday 5/24/14 Lend a Helping Hand - Flag placing for vets
19th Annual Lend a Helping Hand sponsored by IDontKnow M.C.

Rt-110 Park and Ride, N. Service Road, Exit 49 L.I.E.
Sign up from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Leave for Pinelawn National Cemetery at 7:10 a.m.

Short ride to the cemetery where we will place flags on the graves of our departed Service Men and Women. $6 donation. Flags will be provided.

Very emotional day. I left the house with no rain but as soon as I got to LIE it started to piss. Part of the wait for the ride to start was in the rain. We left with a police escort going the wrong way on the service road. As we entered the cemetery I got very emotional thinking of all the people that have given their lives for our freedom. The place was filled with all types of scouts and other groups placing the flags on the graves. There was a short prayer then we got to work. I didn't take more then 20 minutes to do a big section of the cemetery. I think I'm going to try and do this event every year. I was home by 8:30. Here is a pic of the pin and patch we got. Now I have a little issue with the patch. I understand not having the 50 stars due to spacing but the stripes??
